在ielts正式考中段落標題題型至少會出現一篇,通常是6-8題,因此考生應該好好把握。在類型的題目中,有些題型考生只看第一遍很可能無法找出答案,因此建議可以先做該篇的其他題目,更理解文意之後再回頭做剛剛的題目。

要注意段落標題題型經常會出現多個(4-5個)答案選項,其用意在於干擾考生的視線,要特別注意找出該段落中主旨以及主題句是什麼,以免被干擾選項誤導,有時候,選錯某個選項後會導致後面一連串的錯誤,因此要非常小心。

What if doctors still check patient’s heart sounds by putting their ears on patient’s chests? I bet it wouldn’t be comfortable for either doctors or patients. The stethoscope was invented by a French doctor, Rene Laennec in 1816 for exactly that reason. Laennec came up with the thought of stethoscope because he was uncomfortable placing his ear on women’s chest to hear heart sound. The device he created was similar to the common ear trumpet. It was made of a wooden tube and was monaural.

如果醫生需要將自己的耳朵放在患者的胸前才能檢查患者心臟的聲音會怎麼樣?我敢打賭,不論是醫生還是患者都會感到不舒服。聽診器是在1816年由一個法國醫生蕊內所發明,而發明的原因正是如此。拉埃內克有了聽診器的想法,正是因為他要把他的耳朵放在婦女的胸部以聽到心臟的聲音是非常痛苦的。他所創造的設備是類似於常見的助聽器,設計是利用一個木管的單聲道。

 

 

It was not until 1840 that the stethoscope with a flexible tube was invented. Back then, the stethoscope still had only a single earpiece. In 1851, Arthur Leared, a physician from Ireland first came up with a binaural stethoscope.  A year later, George Camman improved the design of the instrument and it has become the standard ever since.

直到1840年才有軟管的單聲道聽診器。在1851年來自愛爾蘭的醫生,亞瑟.李納德第一次設計了一個雙耳聽診器。一年後喬治.卡門改良了儀器的設計,讓它成為聽診器的標準。

 

 

In the early 1960s, a Harvard Medical School professor, David Littmann, created a new lighter and improved acoustic. And almost 40 years later,  the first external noise reducing stethoscope was patented by Richard Deslauriers. The medical technology keeps improving. And it was just recently an open-source 3D printed stethoscope which was based on Littmann Cardiology 3 stethoscope was invented by Dr. Tarek Loubani.

在1960年初期,哈佛大學醫學院教授,大衛.利特曼,創造了一個新的、更輕的聽筒,並改進了聲學。而進爾後40年,第一個外部噪聲降低聽診器的專利由查理.查斯羅里所申請。由於醫療技術不斷提高,就在最近利用利德曼心臟3聽診器的基礎所發明的3D列印聽診器也由塔里克姆邦尼博士所發明。

 

 

   Rene Laennec was born on February 17th, 1781 at Quimper, France. He grew up living with his uncle Guillaime Laennec who worked at a faculty of medicine at the University of Nantes. Influenced by his uncle, Rene first started his study in medicine.

 In 1799, he happened to have the privilege of studying under some of the famous surgeons and experts in cardiology. It was when he was 19 that he moved to Paris and studied dissection in Guillaume Duputren’s laboratory.

蕊內.拉埃內克生於1781年二月十七日的法國坎內珥。他與他在南科大學擔任教師的伯父古拉梅.拉埃內克一起生活。由於他伯父的影響,拉埃內克開始了他的醫學研究。1799年,他在偶然的機會下與某些最有名的外科醫生與專家學習心臟病學研究。當他19歲時,他移居巴黎,並在季堯姆.都普特的實驗室研究解剖學。

 

 

  Graduating in medicine in 1804, Laennec become an associate at the Societe de IEcole de Medicine. He then found that tubercle lesions could be in all organs of the body and not just the lungs. In 1816, at the age of 35, he was offered the position of a physician at the Necker Hospital in Paris.

1804年於醫學院畢業之後,拉埃內克成為了Societe de IEcole de Medicine的一員。之後,他發現了結節性病變可能存在於身體的所有器官,而不僅僅只有肺部。到了1816年,在他35歲的時候,他得到了巴黎內克爾醫院醫生的職位。

Laennec is considered to be one of the greatest doctors of all times. It was him that introduced auscultation. This method involves listening and identifying various sounds made by different body organs. Before the invention of this method, doctors needed to put their ears on patient’s chests to diagnose patient’s problems. He felt uncomfortable especially while he was diagnosing young women. This led to the innovation of a new device called the stethoscope which he initially termed as ‘’chest examiner’’. With stethoscopes, nowadays all doctors are able to study different sounds of heart and understand patient’s conditions in a much more precise way. Laennec’s works were way ahead of his times and had a great impact on medical science.

拉埃內克被認為是有史以來最偉大的醫生之一。他引進了聽診技術。這種方法涉及聽力,並確定由不同的身體器官製成各種聲音。這種方法發明之前,醫生需要把耳朵放在病人的胸前以診斷病人的問題。尤其當他診斷年輕女性時,這種方法令他不舒服到促使了一個新設備的發明。他最初將這個儀器命名為「胸部測試儀」。因為聽診器,現在所有的醫生都能夠學習心臟的不同聲音,並以一個更精準的方式了解患者的病情。拉埃內克的作品是超時代的發明,並且對醫療科學產生有深遠的影響。
